Start with a clear, front-facing face photo
Pick a photograph with even lighting, a sharp face and minimal obstruction. A large, clearly visible face is more useful than a distant group shot. Avoid heavy beauty filters, motion blur and strong shadows if an unfiltered alternative is available.
A side-profile image helps with the shape of the nose, chin, hair and ears. It is helpful rather than mandatory; the designer must interpret anything not visible in the supplied photographs.
Show the outfit and pose you want
If the miniature should show a particular outfit, upload a full-body reference with that clothing visible. A separate photograph can show the intended pose, shoes, accessories or hairstyle. Tell us which photo is for likeness and which is for outfit or pose if they differ.
References may come from different pictures. They do not have to show the finished composition in a single perfect photo.
For two people or a family, show every face
A couple or family group image is helpful for the overall arrangement, but small or partially hidden faces are difficult to interpret. Include separate close-ups for people whose features are not clear in the group photograph.
Family orders support three to eight people in the standard online configurator — see the family figurine page for that checkout. The two-person option also works for siblings, parents, or friends, not only romantic couples; that product view is the couple 3D miniature.
What happens if the source photo is old or blurry?
You can upload an older reference, but missing detail cannot be reconstructed with certainty. When possible, supplement it with more photographs of the same person. Expect the digital proof to be a sculptural interpretation rather than an exact 3D scan.
Check the design before we manufacture it
After prepaid checkout, a detailed digital proof is prepared for review before printing. Two revisions are included within the original brief. Use that step to review the face, hairstyle, outfit and pose before the approved design enters production.
